SCS introduceert deze extreem snelle SSB e-mail / Sailmail modem met Pactor-4 software en ingebouwde USB-aansluiting; de P4-DRAGON DR7800. Door nieuwe softwarealgoritmes is de dataoverdacht bij slechte radio omstandigheden sterk verbeterd.

De datasnelheid kan oplopen tot wel 2x die van Pactor-3 tot 10.500 Baud. De P4-Dragon modem is 1:1 uitwisselbaar met alle voorgaande Pactor soorten (1+2+3) en bruikbaar voor Navtex en weerfax (weatherfacsimile). Het grote voordeel is dat er binnen de Sailmail of Winlink tijdlimiet meer E-mail verkeer kan plaatsvinden.

The fast quad-core DSP used in the DR-7800 enables for the very first time, a high data rate, approaching very close to the Shannon limit, as well as an extremely high immunity to interference. PACTOR-4, with its 10 speed levels and adaptive equalizer, adjusts itself ideally to varying channel conditions, and guarantees reliable data transfer even under very poor propagation conditions. Due to this high reliability, P4dragon modems allow transmission of safety relevant data via shortwave, and provide an excellent value for money when compared to many satellite services.

The DR-7800 has been optimized for use with the new high-end data transmission mode PACTOR-4. This offers unexcelled fast and robust data links via shortwave; E-mail almost like at home – from any point on earth. The DR-7800 is software compatible to the PTC-II series so that existing PACTOR software (AirMail, RMS Express, Alpha etc) can continue to be used. The elegant design, and the excellently readable and informative OLED display, as well as the easy upgrade possibilities (free updates!) round up the concept of the most modern short-wave modem from SCS, the creators of PACTOR.
